Nykteris Wing Necklace with Soft Spikes on 16" sterling silver chain

"Nykteris" is a deliberate misspelling of the genus Nycteris (sorry but the letter K is cooler than the letter C), which is a family of slit-faced bats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slit-faced_bat). The thin, elongated shapes of the black rubber are reminiscent of bats stretching their wings as they hang from cave roofs or tree branches.

Made with repurposed materials from the electronics industry, this eye-catching Necklace is inspired by the growth patterns of plants and animals. Each piece is lovingly hand made in the USA; as in the natural world, no two are exactly alike.

Soft, flexible rubber over an aluminum armature. They are durable, yet extremely lightweight! Pieces are approximately 4 1/2 inches long. 16 inch fine chain is sterling silver. Black Gunmetal chain also available upon request.
